WELCOME TO THE USSA

It was an incredible moment –proof that a bloodless coup was indeed possible. Yes, with one stroke of pen a new nation was forged. Welcome to the Unrepresented Socialist States of America. No longer need we worry about being “endowed by (our) Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
How clever it was to dismantle these “truths” one at a time instead of one fell swoop. To use the judicial branch to enact laws rather than to judge them was brilliant. The plan can now be seen clearly even to those who slept through the augmentation of government over personal rights.
Initially God, our Creator, was assaulted. We were bombarded by skeptics and evolution until it appeared criminal to teach a creationist viewpoint. It is hard to imagine a more innocuous threat to people than prayer but do it and one finds unleashed on him the dogs of war. Ten Commandments are removed from public domain and don’t even think about displaying a manger scene.
Then Life came under attack. First, the seeds of this new nation must redefine Life, when it actually begins, and exterminate it before that redefined moment occurs. Then once the beginning of Life is blurred the end of life must be rethought and blurred. Make it an issue of “quality of life” rather than a right of life.
Breathtakingly brilliant, all.
The third step was to bring down Liberty, or, better yet, redefine Liberty to mean its exact opposite. We are now wards of the state. Everyone knows this. Even those foolhardy sycophants that passed a largely unread bill know it. Granted, Lady Liberty has been under fire for some time, but until now she has withstood the barrage. Now she lays gravely wounded, gasping for air, and hoping that reinforcements will soon arrive. How many there are and whether they can be delivered on time is uncertain.
Like the once proud flag of Liberty’s fallen country, she is tattered and worn from the warfare. One thing is certain however, that illuminating this scene of attack is not the red glare from artillery rockets but from the eyes of every discerning American who has had enough. And who can blame them?
Americans see in this present government an incredible likeness of the one that spawned the first revolution. According to their founding document government is to derive “their just powers from the consent of the governed.” In other words, government is not to ignore the overwhelming majority.
How foolish of me to expect the USSA to adhere to the doctrines or laws of its vanquished foe. Laws are arbitrary now. In that case Liberty lives under a new guise, but only to the politician and the affluent donor to his position.
Can there be any doubt that the final blow is soon to follow –that the pursuit of Happiness will succumb to the juggernaut of the USSA? Once completed, that relic known as “The Declaration of Independence” can be laid to rest with its equally antiquated sister “The Constitution of the United States of America.” We need not concern ourselves anymore, whether these documents are firm or “living” and “evolving.” Let the USSA concoct her own.
Unbelievably, there are still those who are oblivious to this trend. Once fully awake however, there is no telling what this sleeping giant may do. Perhaps they will reread (or perhaps read for the first time) their founding documents. Maybe the fire of freedom will be rekindled. Maybe passages will inspire them. Passages like, “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
The time is now. Long live the USA.
Short live the USSA.
